Taking photos

  • What does the stamp show?

The map, the full address and a short place name, GPS coordinates (decimal or degrees/minutes/seconds), Plus Code, date, time and time zone, weather, wind, humidity and pressure, height, accuracy and compass direction, plus a photo number, your note, your name, company and logo. Turn any of them on or off in Settings › Edit the stamp.

  • How do I change how the stamp looks?

Open Settings › Edit the stamp. Swipe through the styles and tap one to use it, then pick the stamp's position, size, colour and background, the date format, a 12- or 24-hour clock and metric or imperial units. The preview at the top shows the result.

  • Can I stamp a photo I already took?

Yes. On the camera, open the More menu (⋯) and tap Stamp an existing photo. Pick the photo in your phone's photo picker and choose where and when it was taken: from the photo itself, a custom location, or where you are now. Android's photo picker often removes the location from a photo, so you may need to set it yourself.

  • Can I set the location myself?

Yes. In Settings › Edit the stamp, choose a custom location: search for an address or move the map to the spot, and edit the address text if you like. A badge on the camera shows when a custom location is on. Switch back to automatic GPS at any time.

  • Does it record video?

Yes. Switch to Video on the camera. Wherecam saves the video and then adds the stamp to a copy in the background. If that can't be done, the original video is kept.

  • Does Wherecam work offline?

Yes. Photos, videos and the GPS position work without internet, and nothing is ever lost because of a bad signal. Weather, the map picture and the street address need internet; without it they are left off the stamp.

Saving and sharing

  • Where are my photos?

In the My photos tab, where you can search by place or note. To also copy them to your phone's gallery automatically, open Settings › Camera settings › Save to gallery and choose the stamped copy, the original or both, the folder and the file name.

  • How do I share a photo?

Open it in My photos and tap Share to send it to WhatsApp, email or any app. Share sends the stamped copy.

  • Can I get the photo without the stamp?

Yes. Wherecam keeps the original too. Open the photo and tap Show without the stamp, or set Save to gallery to Original or Both.

Problems

  • It says "No GPS signal".

Check that location is on and that Wherecam is allowed to use it (your phone's Settings › Apps › Wherecam › Permissions). GPS works best outdoors; indoors it can take a little longer to find your position.

  • The address or weather is missing.

Both need internet at the moment you take the photo. On some phones without Google services, the street address is not available; the coordinates are still shown, and you can type an address as a custom location.

  • "Saved, but the stamp could not be added".

On a very busy phone the stamp occasionally can't be drawn in time. The original photo is kept; take the photo again. If it keeps happening, close other apps or try a smaller photo size in Camera settings, and tell us your phone model.

  • Can I change the language?

Wherecam follows your phone's language and speaks 32 languages, including Arabic, Persian and Urdu with right-to-left layout and eight Indian languages. On Android 13 or later and on iPhone you can also pick a language just for Wherecam in your phone's settings.

Privacy

  • Do I need an account?

No. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no ads and no analytics.

  • What leaves my phone?

Your photos never do, unless you share or save them yourself. For weather, Wherecam sends MET Norway your location rounded to about 1 km; for the map, map servers see the area being drawn; and your phone's own address service turns coordinates into an address. The privacy policy has the details.
