1. Summary
Wherecam is a camera that stamps your photos and videos with the map, address, date, time and weather. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no crash reporting, and we do not run a server for it. Your photos, videos and notes stay on your phone unless you save or share them yourself. To show weather and a map on the stamp, the app asks outside services for them using a rough location (about 1 km), as explained below. We do not sell your data and we never receive it.
2. Who we are
Wherecam is made by QuantumPlug Technologies LLP, India ("we", "us"). Contact and Grievance Officer: apps@quantumplugtech.com.
3. What stays on your phone
Photos and videos you take, the stamped copies, the stamp details printed on them (time, coordinates, address, weather, compass direction and height), notes, your name, company name and logo for the stamp, custom locations and all settings are stored only in Wherecam's storage on your phone. We never receive any of it.
Copies are added to your photo gallery only when the gallery setting is on or you tap Save to gallery. When you share a photo or video, it goes only to the app or person you choose.
4. Weather (MET Norway)
When the stamp shows weather, Wherecam asks the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway, api.met.no) for the current weather. The request contains your location rounded to two decimal places (about 1 km) and, like any internet request, your IP address. It contains nothing that identifies you or your device. The request identifies the app as Wherecam with our contact address, as MET Norway requires. Weather data is © MET Norway, licensed under CC BY 4.0. Switch weather off in the stamp settings to stop these requests.
5. Maps
When the stamp or a photo's details show a map, the map images are downloaded from map tile servers: OpenStreetMap for the standard map, Esri (ArcGIS World Imagery) for satellite and hybrid, and OpenTopoMap for terrain. Each request shows that server the area being drawn (roughly 1 km at the zoom level used) and your IP address. Switch the map off in the stamp settings to stop these requests.
6. Address lookup
To turn GPS coordinates into a street address, and to search for an address when you set a custom location, Wherecam uses your phone's built-in address service: Google's on Android, Apple's on iPhone and iPad. That service is part of your phone's operating system and handles the request under Google's or Apple's privacy terms.
7. Voice notes
If you hold the microphone button to dictate a note, your speech is sent to your phone's speech recognition service (Google on Android, Apple on iPhone and iPad) to be turned into text, only while the button is held. Wherecam keeps no audio. The text becomes your note and stays on your phone.
8. Permissions
• Camera: to take photos and videos.
• Microphone: to record sound with videos and to dictate notes. Never in the background.
• Location, only while the app is open: for the coordinates, address, map and weather on the stamp. You can deny it and still take photos, or set a custom location.
• Add to photo library: to save your stamped photos. Wherecam never reads the photos already in your gallery. To stamp an existing photo, you pick it in the system photo picker, which gives the app only that photo.
Wherecam does not use background location, contacts, the advertising ID or any tracking.
9. Backups
On Android, Wherecam leaves your photos, its photo list and its settings out of Google cloud backups, which have a small size limit. Moving to a new phone with Android's device-to-device transfer copies everything. On iPhone and iPad, app data is included in your iCloud or computer backup as for any app. Those backups are stored by Google or Apple in your account; we cannot see them.
10. Children
Wherecam is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone.
11. Your rights
Because we do not receive or store any data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Weather, map and address services only see the requests described above, under their own privacy policies. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU, EEA or UK, or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act), you may complain to a data protection authority: in India the Data Protection Board of India, in the EU, EEA or UK your local authority. For any question, email apps@quantumplugtech.com and we will reply within 30 days.
12. How to delete your data
• Delete a photo or video in Wherecam to remove it and its stamp details from the app.
• Uninstall Wherecam, or clear its storage in your phone's settings, to delete everything the app stored.
• Copies you saved to your gallery or shared stay where you put them; delete them there.
13. Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on quantumplugtech.com with a new "Last updated" date, and important changes will be shown in the app.
